Create affordable office space for local nonprofits, like Eastie Farm
The original proposal for 9 McKay Place included 1,200 sq. ft. of below market rate commercial space for Eastie Farm "as their office and central distribution point for CSAs, urban farming and cooking classes, and potential farmers markets in the adjacent pocket park." However, revisions to the plan took this out, choosing to retain space for cars instead of for the community.
Future larger-scale projects proposed in East Boston should incorporate active uses of their ground floor that benefit the community.
